Brand Storytelling

If you’ve been on my visual storytelling site, then you know I originally started as a print student in journalism school and then switched to broadcast. Here me out — I’m a writer, but I believe a good writer (and this is something we were taught in journalism school) has the ability to tell stories in a variety of formats. That’s what I do, and I think I’m great at it.

Autonomous vehicles

The future of mobility is happening right before our eyes. In climates like Minnesota, weather conditions make it a bit trickier for autonomous vehicles to navigate around. 3M partnered with DoT to test their product on a autonomous shuttle that was going to be operated during a large sporting event in the Twin Cities. I wrote this story as part of a larger feature that included a video and internal news piece.

As a brand journalist, I wrote feature stories that spanned all across the company. I covered various market trends, products, technologies and highlighted the people behind all of those solutions.

I love learning about complex subjects (that’s why I went to journalism school) and translating it in an engaging way that everyone can understand it.

Here is a sampling of some of my favorite features.

Women in science

Promoting STEM careers is crucial so when it came to creating a series of profiles on scientists at 3M, I was thrilled. This series focused on women in science and was aimed at showcasing the variety of backgrounds that each scientist had outside of the lab.

Future of work

Skilled trades aren’t what they used to be. In the small town of Hutchinson, MN, 3M’s manufacturing plant employees a lot of its population. This story featured members of the community who are working to inspire the next generation of students to go into skilled trades.
